At 3:00 pm on March 18, 2023, sponsored by The Graduate Student Affairs Department of Jiangsu University Party Committee;The Youth League Committee of Jiangsu University;The Graduate School of Jiangsu University;The School of Overseas Education, Jiangsu University;The Graduate Student Association of Jiangsu University,and jointly organized by the Institute of Science and Technology Information of Jiangsu University, the School of Medicine, the School of Teacher Education, and the School of Chemical Engineering, the “Cross Culture Park” activity for the spring semester of 2023 was held in classroom J1427 of Jingjiang Building.The theme of this activity is “Skillful Paper-cutting Reflecting Original Intention, Red Inheritance Sending Deep Love”, which aims to help Chinese and foreign students exchange, exchange and blend through Paper Cuttings manual activities.This activity focuses on International Communication, Humanitarian Concern,Health and Well-being, Technology Innovation and Science and Education，showing the spiritual outlook of Chinese youth and promoting Chinese students and international students to deepen mutual understanding and enhance mutual friendship.About 50 students participated in this activity, including about 12 foreign graduate students .

At the beginning of the activity, the two hosts delivered a welcome speech and introduced the theme of the activity “Skillful Paper-cutting Reflecting Original Intention, Red Inheritance Sending Deep Love”. Then guide the group members to introduce themselves to each other and promote mutual understanding among the members of the group.

Then, the host invited everyone to watch the Paper Cuttings art video “The Charm of Paper-cutting”. This video shows the ingenuity of Yueqing paper cutting, which reflects the craftsmanship spirit of intangible cultural heritage inheritors. After watching, there was a brief communication within the group. The host invited representatives of each group to share their understanding of Paper Cuttings art, including their own experience of Paper Cuttings and their understanding of Paper Cuttings culture.

Then came to the game time. The students were divided in to six teams and participated in the Paper Cuttings quiz and The team members cooperated to complete the Paper Cuttings game with the motto of Jiangsu University. And the winning team received exquisite gifts.

Then, in the handicraft game, Chinese and foreign students work together to bring the image of the Chinese Zodiac Signs to life on paper.

The last part is the academic time. Chinese and foreign students read relevant literature on Paper Cuttings art and share their feelings.

After all the activities, the host invited the Chinese and foreign students to take a photo as a souvenir, and conducted interviews with some Chinese and foreign students to understand their views on the activity and suggestions for improvement. They all said that the activity was fruitful. This activity will not only help students know more about the Paper Cuttings culture, but also help promote exchanges between Chinese and foreign students, adding pleasure to everyone’s busy life!
