Ⅳ.OBJECTIVE:
By this course, students can clarify the basic disciplinary concepts and problems, master the subject theoretical development, the new features, theories and methods, and familiarize themselves with library work and organized workflow; broaden horizons, set up professional consciousness and lay the foundation for the study of library science major courses; enable to understand the basic theories and development, as well as to grasp the development trend of modern library science to meet the needs of future work.

Contents: The evolution and development of research objects of library science both at home and abroad, clarifying the connotation and denotation of the concept of library information science and establishing one's own conception of library science.

Contents: start with the basic concepts, analyzing the basic units of the research in library information science. By understanding these concepts, clarify the object, meaning and principle of library work and research.

Chapter 3 Basic Library information career and subject and social information exchange system (3 credits hours)
Contents: Under the background of library occupation in social communication system, it tells the principle of information exchange, the historical evolution of information exchange system and its causes and essence and the status and function of library as an occupation in the whole social information exchange system. Libraries are not isolated, but rather socially relevant. Construct the knowledge system of library and information science to set a clear disciplinary position.
