Libraries have a responsibility to contribute to the growth of an educated literate society and to also ensure that their services are well-known and well-used.If libraries are to function effectively in the present age, the manual processes or methods will have to give way to information and communication technologies (ICT) and a computer driven environment. The size of libraries or their collections may not be the benchmark but rather accessibility. For any library to derive maximum benefit in this information age, it has to be online. Also, the rapid changes in technology have affected access to information, including contents of nearly every course studied in universities. Because of this, information resources are now presented in a form that can only be accessed through the use of ICT devices. The focus of my research is to investigate how ICT tools are used in the selected libraries to deliver library services to users and the benefits gained from the use of these tools. It also seeks to explain the impacts, functions and challenges of use of ICT in library services delivery. |
